Honoring Our Cherokee People

At Cherokee 411, we believe every Cherokee life deserves to be remembered, celebrated, and preserved for future generations. That is why we offer free obituary services to all citizens of the Cherokee Nation (CN), United Keetoowah Band (UKB), and Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians (EBCI).

This is not just an obituary. It is a record of who your loved one was as a Cherokee person — their tribal citizenship, their family ties, their ancestors, and their place in our shared history.

What We Include

Each obituary published on Cherokee 411 can include:

  • Full name, birth date, and date of passing
  • Tribal citizenship (CN, UKB, and/or EBCI)
  • The obituary and link from the funeral home’s website, so families and readers know who cared for their loved one and handled their services
  • Cherokee family history and context — including notable Cherokee ancestors and Dawes Rolls descendants
  • Military service details (if applicable)
  • Recognition as a Cherokee National Treasure (if applicable)
  • A biography — send us what you have, and we will do our best
  • Photos — as many as the family wishes to share

Slideshow Tributes

Families are welcome to submit a photo slideshow they have already prepared, or simply send us their photos, and we will create one. We want your loved one’s story told fully and beautifully.

Special Recognition

Cherokee 411 offers dedicated tributes for:

  • Cherokee Veterans — Those who served our country while carrying Cherokee heritage
  • Cherokee National Treasures — Individuals recognized for their contributions to Cherokee culture, language, and the arts
